  • Mastewal Taddese

    Research Intern, 2014

    Mastewal is a senior at New York University Abu Dhabi, where she is pursuing a dual bachelor's degree in social research and public policy and in political science. Highly interested in education reform, she has recently co-founded a youth initiative to promote the quality of education in her native country of Ethiopia. Previously, she was an intern at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and Africa Center for Open Governance. Here, she developed qualitative and quantitative research skills.

    Mastewal joins the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation to enhance her research skills and contribute to the capacity development programs of the Foundation. Having spent most of her time in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, she is excited to learn more about the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah through this internship.

  • Maitha Al Mansoori

    Education and Research Intern, 2014

    Maitha Jakka Al Mansoori is an American University of Sharjah alumna who graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration. She majored in finance and minored in management information systems. Maitha chose to intern with the Al Qasimi Foundation because she believed that the experience would offer her a new and different career experience. Maitha has also studied to become a Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) and hopes to continue her studies and receive a master’s of science in management, information systems, and digital innovation from The London School of Economics.

  • Rafe'aa Al Dhoory

    Student Programs Assistant

    Formerly an Administrative Intern with the Al Qasimi Foundation, Rafe’aa Saeed Al Dhoory is now its Student Programs Assistant. Although Rafe’aa is Omani, she has lived in Ras Al Khaimah most of her life. Rafe'aa graduated from Khawla bint Al Azwar secondary school in Oman, and before coming to the Al Qasimi Foundation, she completed secretarial and computer courses. Rafe'aa is part of the Community Engagement and Outreach team and seeks to develop her skills in order to improve her professional competence.

  • Fiona Crookshank

    Research Intern, 2013

    As an undergraduate at the University of East Anglia, in Norwich, United Kingdom, Fiona Crookshank is completing her undergraduate studies in international development with overseas experience. Prior to her time at East Anglia, Fiona spent two months in sub-Saharan Africa, volunteering and aiding in education research at schools in Zambia and Botswana. 

    Her dissertation will focus on the relationship between education and gender in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE. Fiona’s dedication to world development has also fueled her involvement in children’s charities, including Unicef, Time to Educate Africa’s Children (TEACH), and Kids Action Overseas (KAOS).

  • Leah Reynolds

    Research Intern, 2013

    During her internship, Leah Reynolds was pursuing her undergraduate degree in social research & public policy at New York University Abu Dhabi, where she also served as Student Body President. She is interested in the intersection of law and policy, and completed an internship with the Egyptian American Rule of Law Association examining anti-corruption legislation in the Arab world. Leah minored in the Arab Crossroads, an interdisciplinary program, and planned to pursue a senior capstone project on student social cultures at higher education institutions in the UAE.
