  Dr. Cambria Dodd Russell

  Doctoral Scholar, 2013

  A previous Doctoral Scholar with the Al Qasimi Foundation, Dr. Cambria Dodd Russell is now an Assistant Professor of Education at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. She continues to collaborate with the Foundation and has delivered pedagogy training to 95 educators as part of the English teachers development project.

  Christine Farrugia

  Doctoral Scholar, 2012 

  Christine is a doctoral student in Educational Administration and Policy Studies and a member of the Cross-Border Research Team (C-BERT) at the State University of New York at Albany. Her research interests center on how universities forge successful international ventures and the role universities play in development. Prior to her doctoral studies, Christine worked in academic and student affairs at Columbia University and Tufts University. She holds a BA from Hunter College, City University of New York, as well as EdM and MA degrees in higher and postsecondary education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

  Dr. Chetan Dave

  Faculty Scholar, 2012 

  Chetan is a specialist in macroeconomics and econometrics, and his current research interests focus on experimental and behavioral economics as they relate to macroeconomic phenomena. Since education has been identified as a main driver of macroeconomic growth, Chetan has become increasingly interested in the economics of education. In collaboration with the Al Qasimi Foundation, he is currently conducting research on peer effects, teacher quality, and other determinants of educational success in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. This research uses techniques from structural econometrics and develops unique experimental economics measures of teacher quality and student knowledge retention.

  Chetan received his doctorate in economics from the University of Pittsburgh and has published several articles and books in the fields of macroeconomics, econometrics, and experimental economics. Prior to joining New York University (Abu Dhabi), Chetan was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas (Dallas) and Tulane University. He has also worked in the Canadian Ministry of Finance and Statistics Canada. Chetan grew up in Montreal, Canada and completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University and his master’s degree at the University of British Columbia.   Dr. Calvert Jones

  Doctoral Scholar, 2011 

  Calvert (Callie) earned her PhD from Yale University in political science with subfield certifications in comparative politics, international relations, Middle East politics, and quantitative methods. From 2010 to 2011, she was a visiting scholar at the Al Qasimi Foundation, supported by a Doctoral Research Grant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University, a master’s degree in information management from University of California (Berkeley), and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Cambridge, where she studied as a Gates Scholar. Callie’s publications include papers in International Security, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Intelligence and National Security, and First Monday.
