The RAK Mangrove Wetland: A Great Ecological Asset Worth Preserving
Situated at the center of the Ras Al Khaimah city in a harsh climate of extreme heat and high water salinity, the mangroves lend Ras Al Khaimah a unique blend of urban and natural beauty. A recent study assessed public attitudes towards these mangroves, and although they are highly appreciated, there are concerns about their health and sustainability.
This Majlis presentation will give an overview of the unique characteristics of the Ras Al Khaimah mangroves, their key ecosystem services, and the threats they face under changing climatic and socio-economic conditions. It will discuss ways to safeguard this important ecosystem future generations.
