The Waste Management Authority was formed in 2016 to develop a sustainable, integrated waste management system for the emirate. Come learn what is happening in the fascinating field of waste management and recycling – including how you can be a part of Ras Al Khaimah’s sustainability efforts.
The session seeks to be informational and will address often-asked questions, including: What is Ras Al Khaimah’s current waste management system? Who is responsible for cleaning our streets? How many landfills does the emirate have? How much is Ras Al Khaimah recycling? What is being recycling? How can I participate?

Sonia earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. A registered civil engineer in California, Sonia brings more than 20 years of professional waste management experience to Ras Al Khaimah. Prior to arriving in the emirate, she worked for the County of Los Angeles Public Works, the County of Orange (California) Waste Management Department, Dana Point Harbor and the County of Orange Watershed & Coastal Resources Department.
