Captain Adnan Al Hammadi
Director of Rehabilitation and Training, Ras Al Khaimah Correctional Facility
Adnan is an Emirati national who has had over 13 years of experience in training and rehabilitation of prisoners across the UAE. He holds a bachelor of social service from UAE University and a master of arts in applied sociology from the University of Sharjah. Additionally, Adnan undertook a range of professional development courses for which he holds diplomas and certificates. Adnan was named Outstanding Employee in the Department of Rehabilitation and Training at the Ras Al Khaimah Correctional Facility by the Ministry of Interior (2007) and awarded the Distinguished Employee Award by the Government of Sharjah (2007-2008).
Captain Adnan has been a key partner in the Al Qasimi Foundation’s Ras Al Khaimah Prison Project, which seeks to provide personal development and educational opportunities for inmates and prison officers. Adnan believes that establishing the prison’s library and convening English language and computer courses is both an effective way to fill inmates’ free time and to refine their talents. It also helps them gain skills so that they can serve the community and find jobs upon their release.
